The Mission Statement of AzLA

The mission of the Arizona Library Association shall be to promote library service and librarianship in libraries of all types in the state of Arizona.

AzLA Accomplishments

  • Developed statewide materials purchasing contracts
  • Lobbied and obtained the end of use taxes on books
  • Provide continuing education credits for school librarians
  • Sponsor the Horner Fellowship
  • Provide regional forums to obtain statewide input to the association
  • Nominate young librarians to the Snowbird Leadership Institute

Title: Integrating STEM through Literature

Participants will:

-Utilize the engineering design process to design a solution to a problem identified in literature.

-Synthesize STEM, the science and engineering practices and the engineering design process in order to inspire student creativity and increase student interest in reading.


Judith Lozoya graduated from ASU with a Bachelors in Education in 2010. She then graduated from GCU with a Masters in Educational Technology in 2013. She taught middle school science in the West Valley for 12 years.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Betty and Gordon Moore foundation, the STAR Library Network will support state and public libraries for the 2023 annular solar eclipse and 2024 total solar eclipse by providing solar eclipse glasses, solar science kits, and in-person and virtual training.
