This year’s conference theme is It's A New Day. The library profession is all about making connections. Library professionals enrich their knowledge base and enhance services by networking with librarians from other institutions. Libraries create new opportunities by collaborating with organizations within their communities. There are the connections technology has enabled, with social media tools increasing options for programming and promotion alike! Finally, there are the daily connections made between staff and patrons, between instructional specialists and students, which form the basis of library service.
The AzLA Annual Conference is directed toward library and information professionals throughout the state of Arizona. This includes staff at public libraries, university libraries, school libraries, and special libraries. Continuing education certificates are available for education professionals who attend.
The conference supports AzLA’s mission to “look after the general welfare of library work and workers in Arizona, to advance the education advantages of the state through libraries, and to promote general interest in library extension [traveling libraries].” Since its establishment, the Association’s primary mission has remained the same: to promote and improve library service and librarianship in Arizona.
The mission of the Arizona Library Association shall be to promote library service and librarianship in libraries of all types in the state of Arizona.
Programs fall into tracks: Leadership & Staff Development; Children and Young Adults; Information Literacy & Teaching; User Services; Technology & Tech Services; and Library Outreaching, Marketing, and Advocacy. This year’s conference theme is “It's a New Day!” focusing on ways to create innovative programming, expand our reach across our communities and the state, inspire future leaders both within our library staff and customers who we often build mentorships with, and overcome the challenges we all often face.
