The Mission Statement of AzLA

The mission of the Arizona Library Association shall be to promote library service and librarianship in libraries of all types in the state of Arizona.

AzLA Accomplishments

  • Developed statewide materials purchasing contracts
  • Lobbied and obtained the end of use taxes on books
  • Provide continuing education credits for school librarians
  • Sponsor the Horner Fellowship
  • Provide regional forums to obtain statewide input to the association
  • Nominate young librarians to the Snowbird Leadership Institute

Program Description:

Don’t be afraid! Join us for a friendly overview of copyright as it applies to library situations and dispel your fear, uncertainty and doubt around what you can and cannot do under copyright law. We will talk about copyright basics with a special emphasis on interlibrary loan, fair use, and understanding your own copyright as a professional. Finally, we will share information about additional learning opportunities and copyright support networks.

Presenters: 

Ellen Dubinsky is Scholarly Communication Librarian at the University of Arizona where she advocates for the broadest possible dissemination of the University community’s scholarly output. She is actively involved in promoting open-access, managing institutional repositories, facilitating library publishing, and promoting sustainable approaches to scholarly content creation and stewardship. 

Anali Maughan Perry is the Head of the Open Science and Scholarly Communication Division at ASU Library. She focuses on advocacy, outreach and education on open scholarship, copyright, and open education.
